Where have we been, where do we go?

One can only imagine or believe and with art one can only imagine or make it theirs.

This abstract is painted with acrylic on canvass and coated in UVLS polymer varnish on an 18" X 24" canvass that can be hung as is or framed. This painting is inspired in american ideals and arts, from freedom of speech to Jackson Pollok and is a great way add color and conversation on any room.

Cannon Beach. Painting mixed media.

Painting mixed media

Oregon beach art

Cannon beach

This trip was from summer 2011 at Cannon Beach in Oregon, I wanted to loosely capture the low sky and pacific coast foggy feel. Tidal pools, rocks, wet sand and a cool summer morning walk on the beach make for some of my favorite days.

This was done on heavy water color paper using mixed media of prismacolor pencils, ink and acrylic paint coated in matte clear acrylic.

Wet Bombs

This is my fourth entry into the DPW challenge, the subject of water balloons is always hard, light, transparency, etc. These are hard attributes to capture in paint.

This attempt was done on 6” X 6” Masonite with acrylic paint and finished in UVLS polymer varnish.

Thanks for the fun!

Painting. Coming through.

Art painting for sale
8x8

Coming Through
One of the images that I see in the world and has always seemed surreal to me, is when light comes through the leaves and flowers of plants.

The thing with light is how hard it is to capture in paintings, a few of the masters accomplished this.. I am not yet one of them. As I am honing my skills back to where they once were I have taken a stab at capturing light coming through the hot house glass and through tropical leaves.

This was painted on 8" X 8" Masonite using multiple layers of acrylic paint and varying techniques to achive texture.

Please feel free to leave comments or suggestions on any of my works.

I've been accepted. Arts of the Terrace

I feel lucky, I just started painting again in the last two years and am trying to get my skills back. I created a painting titles "Flying home" and submitted in to the 34 annual Arts of the Terrace show and was chosen by jury to have this painting shown September 29 through October 7. It would be great to see all of you in the northwest come to the event and show your support for the arts.

This painting was done in acrylic on Masonite, it started with stone ground base and water color style technique. It was then built up using layers of gel and paint, vertical brush strokes were left to give an almost wood grain look. I wanted to combine modern technique with the look of old beach art; yup it is a summer painting!

Painting. Flying home.

painting, Seattle artists
Flying home 8x10

Art of the Terrace 2012

Flying home

This was created as a submission to the “Arts of the Terrace show”, my first show attenpt in many years.

This was done on pine boxed 8” X 10”masonite, to get the near water color wet look the masonite was gessoed. Then coated in layers of absorband ground with intentional brush streaks to get the feel of wood. The colors are acryllic using various techniques and layers. I wanted to capture the feel of old beach art and the colors that living by the sea provide.
